Ingredients:

  • 5 US fl oz (45 mL) London Dry Gin (High Quality)
  • 5 US fl oz (45 mL) Sweet Vermouth (e.g., Carpano Antica)
  • 25 US fl oz (7.5 mL) Fernet-Branca
  • 1 large piece Fresh Orange Peel for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Chill the glass: Place the coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water while preparing the cocktail base.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add the Gin, Sweet Vermouth, and Fernet-Branca to the stirring glass.
  3. Add Ice: Fill the stirring glass two-thirds full with fresh, high-quality ice cubes.
  4. Stir for Dilution: Stir the mixture gently but consistently for 20–30 seconds until the exterior of the stirring glass is deeply frosted.
  5. Strain and Serve: Discard the chilling water from the coupe glass. Place the strainer over the stirring glass and strain the cocktail cleanly into the chilled glass.
  6. Garnish: Take the orange peel and express the oils over the surface of the drink by gently twisting the peel. Run the peel around the rim of the glass before dropping it into the cocktail.
