Ingredients:

  • 2 fl oz (60 ml) Bourbon Whiskey
  • ¾ fl oz (22 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • 4–5 fl oz (120–150 ml) High-Quality Ginger Beer, chilled
  • Cubed Ice
  • 1 Lime wheel or wedge, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Lime: Roll the lime gently on the counter to loosen the juices, then halve and extract ¾ fl oz (22 ml) of fresh juice. Set aside the remaining lime for garnish.
  2. Gather Ingredients: Ensure the Bourbon and, crucially, the ginger beer are well-chilled.
  3. Chill the Vessel: Fill the copper mug (or highball glass) completely with fresh, solid ice cubes. The colder the glass, the better the experience.
  4. Add the Base Spirit: Pour the 2 fl oz (60 ml) of Bourbon directly over the ice.
  5. Add the Acid: Follow with the ¾ fl oz (22 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  6. Top with Ginger Beer: Slowly top the drink with 4–5 fl oz (120–150 ml) of chilled ginger beer, leaving a small gap at the rim.
  7. Gently Combine: Insert the long spoon/stirrer and give the drink two quick, gentle stirs—just enough to combine the liquids without flattening the carbonation of the ginger beer.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Place a lime wedge or wheel directly onto the rim or tuck it neatly into the ice. Serve immediately.
