Ingredients:

  • 6 cups (approx. 2 lbs / 900g) Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp (42g) honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp (16g) cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 1 cup (90g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup (60g) almond flour
  • ¼ cup (60ml) melted coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp (42g) maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp (1.5g) sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, and cornstarch in a large bowl until every slice is evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the apple mixture into a 9x9 inch baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, almond flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour in the melted coconut oil and maple syrup, stirring until the mixture forms small, clumpy pebbles.
  5. Scatter the crumble evenly over the apple layer in the baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until the topping is mahogany brown and the apple juices are bubbling.
