Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 2 cups crushed ice
- 1 large fresh mint sprig
Instructions:
- Place the mint leaves in the bottom of your julep cup. Use your muddler to gently press the leaves against the side of the cup until they barely wilt and release a fragrant scent.
- Pour in the simple syrup and the bourbon. Stir briefly with your muddler or a spoon to combine the syrup with the mint oils.
- Fill the cup halfway with crushed ice. Stir vigorously for about 10–15 seconds to churn the drink and initiate the frosting process.
- Top off the cup with more crushed ice, mounding it over the rim in a dome shape.
- Slap the garnish sprig against the back of your hand to release the aromatics and tuck the sprig deep into the ice mound.
