Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons Kosher Salt or Flaky Sea Salt (Optional: Mix with Tajín seasoning for a spicy kick)
  • 1 Lime Wedge (For moistening the rim)
  • 5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 oz Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
  • 4 oz Blanco Tequila (100% Agave)
  • Approx. 10 oz Grapefruit Soda (well-chilled)
  • Generous amount of Ice Cubes
  • Lime, Orange, and Grapefruit Slices (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Salt Rim: Spread the Kosher or sea salt (and Tajín, if using) thinly on a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your two mugs (cantaritos highly recommended).
  2. Coat the Rim: Gently press the moistened rim into the salt mixture, ensuring only the outer edge is coated. Set aside.
  3. Juice the Citrus: In a small bowl or shaker, combine the fresh lime juice, orange juice, and grapefruit juice. Give it a quick stir.
  4. Chill the Mugs: Fill the prepared mugs generously with ice cubes, nearly to the top.
  5. Add the Spirit: Pour 2 oz (60 mL) of the Blanco Tequila into each mug, directly over the ice.
  6. Add the Juice: Divide the mixed citrus juice equally between the two mugs.
  7. Incorporate the Base: Using a bar spoon, gently stir the liquid base (tequila and juices) for about 5 to 10 seconds to lightly chill and combine the flavours.
  8. The Grand Finale (Top Up): Slowly top each mug with the chilled grapefruit soda. Allow the bubbles to settle slightly before finishing the pour.
  9. Garnish: Thread a slice of lime, orange, and grapefruit onto a skewer or simply wedge them onto the rim. Serve immediately.
