Elowen Hartley's journey into baking began with a catastrophic birthday cake that collapsed spectacularly in front of her entire family. Rather than discouraging her, that delicious disaster sparked a lifelong obsession with understanding the science and art of baking. Now, after years of perfecting her craft, Elowen channels that experience into creating dessert recipes that actually work—even for beginners.

Based in Portland, Oregon, Elowen spent five years as a pastry assistant at a beloved local bakery before transitioning to recipe development full-time. She brings a unique perspective to Time Of Recipe: she remembers exactly what it felt like to be confused by baking terminology and intimidated by complicated techniques. That empathy shapes every recipe she writes.
