Ingredients:

  • 10-12 large fresh mint leaves (approx. 5g)
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz club soda
  • 1.5 cups crushed ice
  • 1 sprig of fresh mint
  • 1 thin wheel of lime

Instructions:

  1. Place the fresh mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a julep cup or highball glass. Use a muddler to press down firmly 3-4 times until leaves are wilted and aromatic; do not shred the leaves.
  2. Stir in the fresh lime juice.
  3. Fill the glass 3/4 full with crushed ice.
  4. Pour the club soda over the ice.
  5. Use a long spoon to gently lift the mint leaves from the bottom to incorporate them throughout the drink.
  6. Top with an extra mound of crushed ice to form a dome above the rim.
  7. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a citrus wheel.
